Multiple Sclerosis

The initial appointment will consist of a comprehensive assessment of the condition, including goal setting and an explanation of the proposed treatment plan. This appointment will last approximately 60 to 70 minutes.

Assessment:
The assessment will involve a detailed evaluation of the client’s neurological condition, current functional abilities, and individual goals in order to establish an appropriate treatment approach.

Treatment:
Subsequent appointments will focus on neurological physiotherapy tailored to the client’s individual needs. These sessions will typically last between 50 and 60 minutes. Treatment will aim to help maintain function and slow the progression of symptoms where possible. Interventions may include manual therapy techniques such as massage, stretching, and mobilisation, as well as exercises designed to facilitate movement and improve functional ability. Advice and guidance for carers or caregivers will also be provided where appropriate.

Advanced Stages:
In later stages, as part of a holistic approach to care, assessment of positioning in bed and in a wheelchair may be carried out. Assistance with referral to Wheelchair Services can also be provided if required.
