Brain Injury

The initial appointment will consist of a comprehensive assessment of the brain injury, including goal setting and an explanation of the proposed treatment plan. This appointment will last approximately 60 to 70 minutes.

Assessment:
The assessment will involve a detailed evaluation of the client’s physical condition, functional abilities, and specific limitations resulting from the brain injury in order to determine the most appropriate treatment approach.

Treatment:
Subsequent appointments will focus on neurological physiotherapy tailored to the client’s individual needs and will typically last between 50 and 60 minutes. Treatment may include manual therapy techniques such as massage, stretching, and  mobilisation, as well as exercises aimed at facilitating movement and improving functional ability. Sensory stimulation may also be incorporated where appropriate. Advice and guidance for carers or caregivers will be provided when necessary.

Where required, as part of a holistic treatment approach, positioning in bed and in a wheelchair can be assessed. Assistance with referral to Wheelchair Services can also be provided if needed.
