Learning Disability

The initial appointment will consist of a comprehensive assessment of the client’s condition, including goal setting and an explanation of the proposed treatment plan. This appointment will last approximately 60 to 70 minutes.

Assessment:
The assessment will involve a detailed evaluation of the client’s physical condition, functional abilities, and individual needs in order to determine the most appropriate treatment approach.

Treatment:
Subsequent appointments will focus on neurological physiotherapy tailored to the client’s individual needs. These sessions will typically last between 50 and 60 minutes. Treatment may include manual therapy techniques such as massage, stretching, and joint mobilisation, as well as exercises aimed at facilitating movement and sensory stimulation. Advice and guidance for carers or caregivers will also be provided where appropriate.


Where required, as part of a holistic treatment approach, positioning in bed and in a wheelchair can be assessed. Assistance with referral to Wheelchair Services can also be provided if needed.
